| Montreal Auxilliary Firefighters celebrate 60th. Anniversary. |

On August 21, 2004 the Pompiers Auxilliaires de Montréal
celebrated their 60th anniversary in fine style. A parade
through the streets of southwestern Montreal followed by an exhibition
offered the public a chance to see both new and antique fire
apparatus.
The anniversary committee members were:
- President: Mr. Steve Garnett
- Vice President: Mr. Luc Bouthillier
- Secretary: Stéphane Lahaie
- Treasurer: Mr. Mark Bindman
- Parade Co-ordinator: Mr. François Gervais
These persons are to be congratulated on a successful celebration.
The parade started at 10:00 AM from the corner of Newman and Irwin
Streets in the LaSalle Borough of Montreal and proceeded along Newman to
Jolicoeur then to Monk Blvd. to LaVerendrye Blvd. and finally to des
Trinitaires to the entrance of Angrignon Park.
Once the parade entered the park it passed the reviewing stand and then
the vehicles were parked for the exhibition.
The reviewing officers for the parade were:
- Mr. Alain Michaud, Director of the Service Sécurité Incendie de Montréeal
- Mr. Gaston Fauvel, President of the Association des Pompiers de Montréeal
- Mr. Victor Fleischer, President of the Pompiers Auxilliares de Montréeal
- Ms. Jacqueline Montpetit, Mayor of the Borough of LaSalle
- Mr. Michel Parent, Caisse d'Économie des Pompiers
- Mr. Ron Piché, Honourary President of the 60th Anniversary Committee
- Mr. Roland Carrière, Honourary Member of the 60th Anniversary Committee
- Mr. Émile Roy, Honourary Member of the 60th Anniversary Committee
- Mr. Gérald Laplante, President of the Association des Pompiers Retraités de Montréeal
- Mr. Serge Dufault, Treasurer of the Pompiers Auxilliares de Montréeal
- Mr. Serge Dandurand, Secretary of the Pompiers Auxilliares de Montréeal
The exhibition included all of the vehicles in the parade. Members of
the public had the opportunity to see old and new fire apparatus close-up
with demonstrations of the operation of aerial ladders and vehicle
extrication.
Refreshments and a chicken lunch were also available during the
exhibition.
