Ste-Justine-de-Newton appoints Fire Chief for the day.

Ste-Justine de Newton, a small municipality of about 960 inhabitants, has a female fire chief.

On November 6, 2005 Miss Claude Charlebois was named Director for the day. Stéphane Trottier who is the director in this municipality as well as Rivière Beaudette has finally had an opportunity to take the day off.

Firefighters went to pick-up Miss Charlebois from her home on board the rescue unit (520) in the early afternoon. Her family also had the opportunity to visit the station and see the different equipment. She inspected the personnel as well as the equipment. During the inspection there was a call on the radio for a vehicle on fire at 1500 Rang 3. Units 220, 320 and 520 responded to the call under the supervision of the new fire chief.

Once the intervention was completed the cleaning detail was handled by the crew.

This day was the result of a drawing contest which took place at the Ste-Justine-de-Newton Elementary School during Fire Prevention Week.
